Nothing caused them to break down. Each pair finally had some mechanical failure but it took maybe a year each? And I actually still have a third pair working for me, but just ordered another set. You can’t go wrong if you need comfortable, flexible protection that’s sure to last. The size descriptions leave a lot up to guess work - I bought a size SMALL and I wear a ladies 7 1/2 - they fit perfectly and I have long-ish fingers. I know that all gloves have limits when it comes to stripping furniture, but I have managed to not wreck these in the first use. I have melted through 3 sets of other gloves, so in contrast, these are holding up well. I also enjoy that they come sized. I have extremely small hands and other gloves have been too long and the ends get in the way of what I am working on. These actually fit so my work is easier without rubber fingertips flopping around and messing things up. I totally recommend. I use citristrip and I paint it on with a paintbrush and scrape it off with a plastic putty knife so I don't just keep the gloves in the wet stripper while I'm working, but of course stripper gets on the gloves.
