TIPS & TRICKS- Before you begin work, prepare the area by removing stones, rocks, root outcroppings, or any item that may cause damage to the cultivator tines.- The best soil conditions will be a day or two after rain, when the ground is moist but not wet. Wet soil cannot be tilled properly and will dry in clumps. It is best to be patient and work the soil when it is moist.- If you have new plantings in the ground or are working in tight and confined areas, you can remove blade wheels as needed for better access and efficiency.- Exercise restraint when using any rotary cultivator. Aggressive or excessive tilling can have detrimental effects on soil structure and the beneficial organisms within it.

Review: Great aeration tool - After many years of using a metal rake to scratch the ground surface, I decided to purchase the Garden Weasel. From the first few strokes I was greatly impressed. It ate through the hardened soil where my dogs urinate and the ground became hard and devoid of grass. It performed beautifully under some trees where grass is hard to grow and some roots popped up. It softly buried grass seed as easily as 1-2-3. The handle is long enough (could be slightly longer but it’s fine). The tongs seem to be well made, (they are easily adjustable as you can use 1 - 2 or all 3 blades at any time to fit whatever area you’re working in). Has a slight angle pitch to save your back while rowing this back and forth. This is a drastic improvement to using a rake and cost effective to not buy a rotor tiller (unless you have a huge area to till). It still requires some effort, but the results are amazing as your packed down soil becomes loosened and gets you ready to plant seeds or whatever you want. Highly recommend

I resorted back to bending on my knees and raking the dirt with a small shovel and rake. (Of course, at 80, there are some hard areas I cannot dig).

A: With mail in rebate the Garden Weasel at Menards is $17.95 plus tax

**Q: Will this work on clay soil?**
A: This doesn't work well with or in dry clay soil. In the summer it is even worse. However, if you saturate the soil  with water you can gain traction and penetration.  Be sure to clean the tines when you finish. 
If you are talking about caliche clay you can dynamite it and break it up into smaller chunks which can be wetted down and then cultivate it. Add sand to the wetted clay and pack it down.

**Q: Can this be used to remove weeds in between pavers?**
A: Thank you for your question. It would depend on the distance between the pavers. This unit will pull up weeds through its process of tilling, so you will need to be able to till the dirt between the pavers in order to possibly weed that area.

**Q: Will this cut weeds out of a gravel area?**
A: No.  I don’t think it’s sturdy enough for that.  Loose gravel perhaps?

Usually I'm stingy and will not buy items at this price. But this sounded like an item I could use in my old, not-too-successful garden. But this item came--in a long box which meant it was already assembled or I would have returned it. It came out of the box with clanking bells and whistles in right royalty. It worked to loosen dirt. I am going to see if I will use it sufficiently to justify it--usually I am a hands-on person, use my hands with medical gloves. But so far, it's in grand shape--spanky shiny new, teeth in good shape, all there, nice and long so I don't have to bend. Verdict is out--I returned it now after three days.
