While wet, both act very similarly. Both are pigmented and do not use dyes, so neither will fade for many years, and both possess very similar transparency. Hydrus Watercolor will not clog pens because it readily dissolves in water. **Q: Can these inks be used with dip pens for calligraphy?** A: The Dr. PH Martin's Bombay India Inks can be ussed with dip pens for Calligraphy. They should not, however, be used in fountain pens, as it will clog them quickly, and the clean up effort is nearly impossible. **Q: if you are a watercolorist, have you tried these, alongside more traditional wc paints? if so, how well did they perform together? (thank you)** A: I've used these with both professional Holbein paint and student grade Winsor & Newton paint. They blend, mix and lift just the same. **Q: How do you apply the ink?** A: I use these inks as a permanent watercolor. I allow the first layer to draw before the next. All layers are very diluted. It's a very concentrated ink and will go a long way. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice! *by on Reviewed in the United Arab Emirates 13 December 2019* The colors are amazing! So vibrant and perfect for inking watercolors. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ True colors *by on Reviewed in the United States 6 September 2026* Wonder colors, a great art medium! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The most amazing Art Inks !! *by on Reviewed in Australia 5 November 2019* The Inks are very Vibrant colours and they can be worked into the paper so easily. There can be a great tone variation attained easily by diluting the ink with water. The flat brush use to create a smooth toned wash comes so easy with these inks.I have used them with dip pen and the nib flow was smooth and easy. I have also used them with brushes for wash and outlines and results are spectacular. The best one is the white ink , it is so opaque it can be easily used even on top of black.Last I would recommend this packaging over the other smaller bottles for two reasons :1) Easy to use with a dropper in each bottle2) Ofcourse you have more Ink to create more HahaEnjoy this great set !! I will definitely buy the set 2 soon :) ## Frequently Bought Together - Dr. Ph. Martin's Bombay India Ink (Set 1) Ink Set, 1.0 oz, Set 1 Colors, 1 Set of 12 Bottles - Dr. Ph.
