I looked at the "Perfect Pullup" quite a bit as well, just to see that almost every reviewed cited the following problems:* Cheap plastic parts, especially the pieces that should have been metal* Cheap mounting hardware that most people replaced with their own stuff from Home Depot.I was really surprised how many people complained about the second one.I finally found this and given the price and rating I figured "what the heck, let's get it and see how it works".The box showed up, it was in like 4 pieces... I pushed them together, put in the 4 bolts, walked over to the door and "hung" it... and did some pullups.I could not believe how ridiculously easy that was given how complex some of these other door-pullup installations are. The "swing" design of this redirects all the pressure from you to that front padded bar that pushes horizontally into the door frame, so you don't have to worry about "ripping" the trim off the door.I weigh about 225 lbs (no, I can't do that many pullups either ;) and I didn't even hear a creek out of my door when I do pullups, it's really an awesomely simple design.Also when you want to use the door, just push up on the bar to get the red-bar across the back to lift away from the trim, twist, and take it out of the door frame. It's honestly like a closet hanger or something.The *one* suggestion I might make though, is that the default instructions on how to put the bar together has you mount the long cross-bar (that you grab to do pullups AND that rests against the door frame) *under* (on the bottom side of) the "J" shaped pieces. This means that as you do pullups, the bolts themselves are what are holding you up off the ground.I noticed another reviewer mentioned this, so I tried it... here is my tip to you:1. Look at the picture on Amazon of this pullup bar2. See that long bar that runs across the bottom? See how it's mounted under the "J" shaped bars?3. Unbolt the bolts and put the long bar *ontop* of the "J" shaped bars instead, and re-bolt them.That way when you are doing pullups, the pressure is distributed across the J bars and not exclusively held up by the bolts.I would totally recommend this to anyone else wanting to get into pullups. This also doubles as a push-up bar sort of like the "Perfect Pushup" devices in that it keeps you elevated off the ground so you can get a deeper push up... I actually have the Perfect Pushups so I don't use that feature, but it's a nice touch.Overall just a really smartly designed and simple piece of equipment. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Only Useful As Seen On TV Fitness Product *by S***B on Reviewed in the United States on January 9, 2010* I've owned this bar for a total of about one and a half years, and I'm definitely glad I purchased it.I've used it quite a bit for all its intended purposes and it's still rigid and holding strong. Its never fallen out of my doorway or anything.. I use it without the safety holder as I lost it but it really isn't necessary anyways - stays sturdy during pullups.It makes exercising simple and more enjoyable for me as in my view the only exercises anybody needs are pullups, pushups and chin ups. Can throw this up in a door way in seconds for pull-ups... throw it on the ground for a great push up base (it feels Much better in every way to do push ups grasping a bar vs. hand on ground.) Now as for the situps... sticking it in a doorway kind of sucks because as intuition says and as it does... it sits up a couple inches with your feet under it in a doorway so you have to point your foot up high and such so what I do is slide it under my bed which is at a perfect height to hold it tight.... you may not have a problem with it but when I do situps I like my feet to be held tight and flat. For pullups (and situps) it works perfectly though.The instructions were lacking but if you glance at the box just once then any individual should be able to screw four pieces together.It fits fine in regular doors... I used this on my door at a townhouse that I lived in a few months ago and the door in the room of my house now. So basically.. if you have what you think is a 'regular door'.. then it should fit no problem. I see these people complaining about it not fitting in their door and am just wondering what kind of crazy door they have. Look at the product - it's pretty easy to tell if it will work in your door if it has some funk stuff going on for it.Um, lets see ... other thing.. somebody posted a photo of foam wearing the trim.
