They work on the pull -- with that said, the teeth are like a shark tooth with three cutting edges from within the tooth to create a gullet between each alternate tooth. The backside of tooth has a slight angle (about 2 degrees) towards the handle to create a point (hook angle) at each tooth. The term "Pitch" is not used with these type of saws because the point and the front part of the tooth is perpendicular to the blade.
