**Q: How fast does the soldering iron heat up?**
A: fast..mine is hot n redy to go with in maybe 1 min or so..but thats at about 200-250c

A: 110v. Great unit, by the way. I still use mine regularly.

**Q: What kind of soldering replacement tips work with this system?**
A: My original soldering tip is still working. We mostly use it for traditional solder (not lead free). For replacement tips the following link may be a good deal and it should work:http://www.ebay.com/itm/12-x-solder-Iron-tip-hakko-soldering-rework-station-/270999813166?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0

    A good product

I bought this Saike 852D Hot air gun & digital solering iron last month. I am impressed for its features and the low price. You may need to pay double to have a good digital soldering iron only. I have tried to use the soldering iron. It works very well. The digital temperature setting is very convenient and accurate. The iron heats up quickly, stable and follows the setting temprature. The hot air gun should be a good tool if I need to remove any surface mount chips. The hot air is strong enough to do the job.

Not entirely safe, and somewhat self-destructive

This thing is a lot cheaper on the inside, there's barely anything to it. When I got it, I noticed a rattling on the inside and I discovered that the main transformer was never properly secured. I had to fix that and I figured it was no big deal. I ran a few tests to make sure it could hit it's temperature marks (allegedly up to 500'C) and it seemed to do so. Then the time came for my first real job, and I set to work using the hot-air gun at 500'C for about 20 minutes. There are plenty of warnings on the product that warn about heat output (in EXTREMELY broken english) but not one that warns about the product melting itself. 20 minutes into this job, the hand guard on the hot air gun started to melt onto the gun, producing a lot of black smoke. I was able to let it cool, scrape off the melted plastic and continue, but I noticed the plastic of the hand guard just can't hold up to that kind of heat for very long. I was able to get my job done, and the hot air gun does still technically work, but I'm far from impressed. Later on, i used the soldering iron portion which is an oddly constructed multi-part sheath design that is held together by a nut at the base of the soldering iron. After one use, again around the 20 minute mark, the iron stopped producing heat. It's just dead now, i'm not even sure what broke...I was almost able to finish one project. Apparently you can buy replacement irons, but after that I don't see why I would.I would only suggest this product to someone if A: it's REALLY really really on sale and you don't care if it lasts, or B: you only want the hot air gun, and don't mind that you can't use it at the high-temp for very long.I would also point out that I'm no expert on temperatures, but I have a hard time believing that either device on this actually produced 500'C, maybe 500'F, but the heat just didn't seem very strong, which led me to push the device to its limits.

    This is pretty good

Originally I wrote a very negative review - sorry -Some parts were loose in the box because the very thin plastic bag had ripped. The air temperature control is loose. The directions were confusing.Originally I thought the unit to be defective, but the problem was actually due to my not understanding of the operation. The hot air gun needs to be out of the holder to operate. It is sensitive to position. I commend the engineers for their effort, but it would be more convenient if the hot air function just reduced output while in the cradle -A good feature is the fan is in the handle, which make the cord more manageable. BUT at the lowest air flow setting any component smaller than 1210 is blown off the board. Good feature; the temperature displays are large and easy to read, BUT the display is set temp, not actual temp. I recommend that for a couple bucks more get the X-Tronic rework station. I have been using the X-tronic for over a year, with only one problem, I dropped the iron. This seems to be better quality and I know from personal experience that they have a excellent customer service department in the USA helped me even though the broken iron was my fault. Also that unit came with spare heater for solder iron and heat gun as well as a selection of tips..
