A: You have to pair it with your awning.  There should be directions in the box if you still have it.  You may can google it

**Q: Can this remote be programmed to allow an awning that extends 10 feet to stop at 6ft. or 7ft.  Anything short of full extension?**
A: You can program it to stop but you can stop it manually by pushing the stop button.
