The cover is the perfect size & depth for broiling. The rack also helps with broiling. This is a great addition to your cookware. It's well made, big enough for a nice size turkey, heavy stainless steel - it's not going to ding or dent and it retains heat well. The first time I used it was for stuffed artichokes and they came out great. The pan acted like a Dutch oven. I put the chokes on the rack & it created a steam bath for them and they came out tender but firm! So I think if you wanted to use the cover for a broiling pan, it should work fine. **Q: The picture shows a gray color, whereas, stainless steel is usually shiny silver. What is the actual color? I use the top and the rack to roast the turkey in my convection oven, then can put the lid on the stove top to make gravy. Haven't roasted anything in the bottom yet.
