Definitely be careful with application as it does stain but my sons purple mouth was gone for the most part within the day and totally gone after 2/3 days. **Q: For how long is your mouth or skin stained?** A: DO NOT put this in your mouth. It is for external use only. I'm not sure how long the stain lasts. That would depend upon a lot of variables.
