Review: I Love the Solar Visors But... - I ordered on 6/13/19 and received this product Monday, 6/17/19. These visors are hands down my new favorite skincare product! The design is quirky and oddly stylish, and I absolutely love it for some reason. However, I had to remove a star because while I paid more for this brand, it feels cheaper compared to the less expensive version I bought from desertcart (https://www.desertcart.com/Yarizm-Rainbow-Tinted-Transparent-Sports/dp/B074V1MBLL/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_img_4?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=Y1846817S04X73C9SDRZ). The sun visor material feels thin and flimsy, which logically I know holds no bearing on the sun protective factor or even the quality of the product, but it feels cheap to me. The length of the sun visor also doesn't cover my entire face like the cheap one does. My chin or the top of my forehead is always exposed with this model. The frame is pretty loose on me and any attempts at making it tighter have failed; it just goes back to its original shape. The inside "Aqua-Trans" material is nice, soft, and moisture wicking which is a nice touch compared to the cheaper version. I have a love/hate relationship with the smoothness of the "up and down" movement of the sun visor. It's very smooth and holds its position, but it also gets caught on the frame after a certain point which is very annoying. And now my biggest gripe with this product, besides the price, is the UPF claim. I purchased from this company because others have said it's the original and it has been tested for its UV protection. On the Sovis-USA website they posted the results of a spectra test done by University of California, Riverside showing that sun visor blocked 99.1% of UVA radiation and 99.9% of UVB radiation -- This test was done in 2007. However, they sent a spectra report with the product from 2010 showing that the visor only protects against 86% UVA radiation and 99.9% UVB radiation. While the inconsistencies of the UV protection factors are indeed annoying, 86% UVA protection still isn't bad, but I still have to remove a star because the UPF rating is really unknown. This is what makes this product very dangerous for people really seeking or needing protection from the sun. Yes, Sovis had the visors tested, but that doesn't mean the product they are selling us is the same product or material they sent for testing. The spectra report even says at the bottom that the results only apply to what is being tested. Products like this and UPF claims are not regulated by any governing body because this isn't drug. The FDA at one point did regulate this area, but now it's a FTC issue and I don't see them getting involved honestly. The companies can claim anything and we as the consumers have to believe it. For me in my humble opinion, this is one of those "use at your own risk" type of products since the efficacy unknown. Wear your sunscreens even if you are wearing this visor, folks. They are still fun and quirky and I do like it.
