I suppose you could use it on rivers, (and I have and caught fish) but I suspect in most cases you might want a faster-sinking version for deep moving water.Oddly, it sometimes floats, but found a tug or strip gets it sinking. Maybe there are residual oils on it β€” perhaps washing it with some warm water and dish soap would solve this minor issue.It is tapered.
