If you get to much in your mouth it can hurt and it taste terrible. I put a small amount inside the trays and wear them for 10 minutes. If the gel starts to leak and foam outside of the tray or I can taste the gel I take them out sooner. To me this means that I used too much gel. I whiten maybe 3 times a week. I was able to tell a difference within the first time. This set should last someone at least a month with using a surplus of gel...It last me over 2 months.Do NOT FORM THE TRAYS!-Also I add just a little bit to my toothpaste when I brush my teeth.-Although I do think that the light even does anything this a great deal!My routine:1- Brush teeth regularly.2- Apply a thin zig zag motion amount to both top and bottom tray... Or either one at a time. ( A little gel goes a long way)3- Wait 5-10 minutes. I do not recommend doing it any longer.
