One reason is that your system is not designed for the volume and another is that you are pushing sediment through it. It should be run to the outside away from the foundation or into a drywall system with your gutters if so eqiupt. If you do it the right way you don't need this valve. Also, what happened to your original vent? Lots of questions here....you should only need this for an island sink or difficult remodel situations.
