The colors are bright, but the deep background maintains balance and moves it from being "trendy" to classic. He has worn it once, so I cannot comment on durability. There was a little fuzz around the ege of the fabric, but could only be seen if you are about two inches away from the man's neck. I'm very pleased with this purchase and he was very pleased with all the comments he received: "dapper," "sophisticated," and "charming" were just a few. Tip for Single fellows: ladies love bow ties.
