I have been using Vic Firth sticks for many years. Arrow straight, and nicely sanded wood. I like how they are consistent from stick to stick over the years. I use the smaller diameter 8's these because I play a Roland electric drum kit, and I don't necessarily need to hit pads so hard to get the volume I want like I used to with acoustic sets. It allows me to add a stick wrap to the base to get a better handle in it without being too bulky. I tried the 8DN's because they are slightly longer than the 8D's. I am 6'6" with long arms, and I guess I appreciate the longer length, and the ability to hit a little harder with these.
