Review: My dog loves the taste
Review: This is one of the best olive leaf supplements on the market as far as I'm concerned. I've tried many, but I've stuck with this one for about three years now. This has watered off many a UTI for me as well as colds and viruses. What I love about this product is that it has standardized 18% oleuropein, which is a good amount and be aware that it's the percentage of oleuropine that matters, not the milligrams. So look for the percentage. If there is no percentage listed on the label that means it was not standardized to a truly therapeutic amount. I like it and drop a form because an apprehensive with swallowing pills, so anytime I can get something in a liquid. I will choose it. Plus, liquids are absorbed more easily into your system because they are taken in as food, as opposed to having to breakdown a capsule or pill. The taste is not bad the taste somewhat fig like and I'm not sure how to describe it, a little prune juice like as well, so it's very easy to take. It has served me well so I stick with it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What does "standardized" means, please?**
A: A standardized herbal extract is an herb extract that has one or more components present in a specific, guaranteed amount, usually expressed as a percentage. The intention behind the standardization of herbs is to guarantee that the consumer is getting a product in which the chemistry is consistent from batch to batch. This practice has developed out of the drug model of herbal medicine, in which modern scientists have attempted to identify the components of a plant that have definite pharmacological activity in the body. Unfortunately, while scientists can isolate many constituents from an herb and discover how particular chemicals may act in the body, they inadvertently remove or overlook components that may contribute to the activity of the whole herb. Consequently, standardization may concentrate one constituent at the expense of other potentially important ones, while changing the natural balance of the herb's components. Standardization, therefore, is based on the idea that isolated compounds are responsible for the action of an herb. Almost no medicinal herbs, however, are known for just a single function. In fact, plants contain a complex blend of phytochemicals, and as naturally concentrated foods have the unique ability to address a multiplicity of problems simultaneously. The full medicinal value of herbs is most likely due to their internal complexity and to the interactions of the different components within the body rather than to one of its specific components. Furthermore, many of the constituents within an herb are as yet unknown, and internal chemical interactions within and among herbs are even more poorly understood. Therefore, it is doubtful that this type of standardized herbal extract can exhibit the same full spectrum of use as the whole herb. However, science has proven the efficacy of some of these concentrated extracts regarding specific biological actions, so they can be very useful even if they don't work exactly like the whole herbs.

**Q: Does product require refrigeration after opening?**
A: I, myself do not pou in fridge. Never saw that it did. I use it in bathroom. Sore throat, gum irritation. Use the powder as well. Helped me get over a sinus problem. Without taking meds. My sinuses seem to really effect my gum areas. So, was tender but brushed teeth with and gargle.

**Q: Is there supposed to be a plastic seal on the cap?**
A: I would certainly expect one.... I doubt that I would use it without the seal.

**Q: Is this in a bottle or plastic container? Thanks!**
A: Glass bottle. Good container

Historically, olive leaf was used as a cure-all herbal tonic for an assortment of maladies. Even today, the antibacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory properties of olive leaf have much to offer in the way of health benefits. It's currently being studied for its ability to control blood sugar, improve heart health, lower blood pressure, as well as potential as a cancer preventative. However, one of its main benefits is as a super-antioxidant. Research has shown it to have an antioxidant capacity almost double that of green tea extract and 400% higher than vitamin C. There are many health promoting benefits linked to its antioxidant activity...for instance, its anti-inflammatory properties which can be of help with the pain and swelling of arthritis. These antioxidant compounds provide major health benefits, and help to reduce the risk of many chronic and degenerative diseases. While many other immune boosters work only at stimulating your body's own immune system to work at peak efficiency, the oleuropein in olive leaf works to kill or resist the multiplication of a broad range of viruses, bacteria, yeasts, fungi, and other parasites in your system. So, not only is your immune system getting bolstered; the olive leaf itself is doing much of the work for you in ridding your body of the offending problem. Another significant benefit of olive leaf is that it helps to inactivate disease-causing pathogens without destroying the good bacteria in your intestinal tract. This is an advantage over antibiotics which normally kill bad as well as good bacteria. Since nearly 70% of your immunity resides inside your gastrointestinal system, it's important to keep a healthy amount of good bacteria present. Because of this, it's important to begin using olive leaf extract before an infection worsens to the point of an antibiotic becoming necessary. I've found this to be a very important supplement for our family's health. While I usually take the minimum dose daily, we do increase the dosage at the first sign of illness. I've used olive leaf in both capsule and this liquid form. You can use 1-2 droppers-full twice a day by either squeezing it into your mouth or, as I do, by putting it into a glass of water and drinking it. I prefer the latter way. I add it to just an inch or two of water in a glass and quickly chug it down. It doesn't taste great; but it doesn't taste horrible either. To me, it sort of tastes like what a freshly-cut hay field smells. There are also reported benefits for animals. I put a small amount in my dogs' and cat's meals every day as a preventative to illness.
