The finish on it is matte, but it also feels matte. As in, it's not slippery, but not super grippy, which is what I wanted. The responsiveness of the mouse is perfect, the sensor is definitely high quality for this price point and the lift off is good too, about 1mm which is perfect for gaming. My only complaint is that there is no software to control the dpi and macros for the mouse buttons. I would have preferred no macro button and software to control it instead. Of course, I looked into this before the purchase and knew this mouse did not have this capability.
