The color pattern is easily selected by flipping the switch that controls the light a specific number of times - I think the controller is a neat idea, but I really don't feel like I need it - I'm pretty partial to "Romance" mode in the pool and "Royal" mode for the spa so I don't change it often. I also have to mention in this review that right after the installation of the spa light, the pool light would flash a few times when first powered on - this in no way affected the operation of the light, and it runs flawlessly afterwards. Still, being curious, I asked Pentair support if the flashes meant anything, and not even 2 emails into the conversation, Tim Schell with Pentair support had arranged for me to receive a noise filter and new gasket to be installed at no charge, and without my asking for a repair. This is the type of service that keeps customers returning, and I feel that it bears mentioning. Very happy with this product in particular and Pentair in general. However, you have to put it in the water to test it. Never thought two lights would’nt work. If your box is damaged at all test it in the pool before installing. Test it before installing.
