A: Plastic lid, handle, and base not metal.  Press is metal however.  They work the same, just a matter of looks.

**Q: Last I checked, 4 cups is 32 oz.  Why does it say this is an 8 cup (34 oz) coffee maker?**

**Q: I have since coffee grind on the outside glass stuck between the glass and bottom part: how to clean without breaking the glass?**
A: You *can* get these apart to clean, but be very careful.  The most obvious way is to lift the top of the handle to "unhook" it.   That's not the easiest way, but if you have the strength it's the safest.    I find it easier to remove the base by turning upside down.   Looking at the bottom you want to push the beaker with your thumbs while holding the plastic base with your finger tips.  The plastic will be more flexible if you soak it in hot soapy water.  The dish soap in the hot water will help it slide out.  It may pop out suddenly and is very breakable.   I always re-assemble base 1st, then snap the handle over the edge of the beaker.    (I've had a few of these.  Some fit quite tightly others are fairly easy to remove.)

I bought this 32oz Bodum French Press as a fun little project to see if I could make coffee that was a little better and see if my wife and I could actually tell the difference. We CAN tell the difference and it’s great! The coffee is noticeably smoother and richer and maybe even a little less acidic. The only downside is it takes me 10 to 15 minutes to make coffee this way rather than the five minutes it takes me with a coffee machine. So I’ll usually just use the French press on the weekend when I have more time and I make several batches of coffee all at once, which I store in mason jars in the refrigerator and then the next few mornings I just grab one jar to make my wife and I coffee, which is ready for a cold brew or I can microwave for hot coffee. I’ll probably eventually buy a bigger French press to make my batch brewing faster. From this 32oz press, we get enough coffee to fill 1 mason jar or fill 2 tall YETI style coffee cups.
