I wanted to make sure that I had something that would be close to waterproof. Since I haven't tried it in that respect, I cannot say if it is or not. It appears to be so according to how it's constructed. The bag was a little bulkier than I expected but with the lining I can see why it is. There are a lot of different pockets which will be great for keeping things organized in a beach bag or for easy access on the airplane.
