Review: An absolute time saver. - If you are chasing a "phantom" leak that seems to be dripping from the sump but you suspect is originating elsewhere, this UV dye is an absolute lifesaver. I used it to track down a stubborn leak on my Alfa. From underneath the car, everything pointed toward a sump gasket failure, but the dye revealed a completely different story. Once circulated, the fluorescent trail showed the oil was actually weeping from a seal much higher up the block and simply trailing down the casting.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will i need to change the oil after adding the product or can i run it 3k miles?**
A: You probably don't need to but....I personally would add the UV dye right before you need a oil change. That way you can drive your vehicle for however long. Probably a good 2 days, drain the oil/ fix the problem, then refill with fresh oil.

**Q: do you really need the yellow goggle to see the dye?**
A: I had no problems seeing the dye without the glasses.

**Q: can this dye be mixed with mineral oil and used in smoke test machines**
A: The answer is yes.  I used it in my smoke machine to test an engine in my 1996 BMW Z3 1.9.  It worked fine.

**Q: So i just pour all of this bottle into engine oil and look with blacklight?**
A: Thats exactly what I did to locate a hard to find oil leak. BTW: to get a clean read, you will need to clean the engine beforehand, add the dye and then drive 20 miles or so to locate the leak.
