Only about 5% of dry rocks that we examine will make the cut and be branded ARC Reef Dry Rock. Lab analysis shows that our Dry Rock contains less than half the phosphates contained within Fiji Dry Rock and up to 400% less than Pukani Dry Rock. Our Dry Rocks are the premium Swiss cheese type of Dry Rock. Every rock is ready to accept coral frag plugs. I'm trying to do it on a budget too, and this seemed like the best value for the price. I was very happy with the amount of rock I received, as well as the various sizes. 3 large pieces good for a base, and 4 medium pieces good for stacking on top of that, and then 4 small pieces that went on top of that or are good for islands. I'm setting up the 32 gallon Coralife Biocube and this order was enough to create a nice arrangement that reached 2/3 to the top of the tank. I didn't want any taller than that so the corals I plan to get have room to grow. I could have stacked it taller, but wanted a nice sloping base with more surface area for coral.I did not know for every pound of rock you buy from ARC they will place new reef material in a man made reef off the coast of Florida! Made this purchase worth it even more. Rock arrived individually wrapped and my individual order (25lbs) came with various sizes from the largest at 9 1/2 x 8 down to 4 x 3 1/2 (I think this was a bonus piece). Also note that I did not specify any particular size requests so this is an example of what they send. The rock comes very clean and was ever so slightly damp, I'm guessing from their steam cleaning process. Also included in the box was literature with instructions that would be helpful to anyone who might not be familiar with aquacultured dry rock. They note that curing is not needed for this rock, so that is always a bonus. This is my second purchase from ARC and I have been pleasantly surprised by their high level of customer care.
