STUNNING GOLD raw silk NEW pillow made with vintage gold embroideried white linen. Like vintage quilts, every vintage pillow has a story. SIZE: 20" x 21" or 51 X 53 cm CONDITION: Embroidery Linen is in Great Vintage Condition NUMBER AVAILABLE: 1-4 pillows are available with the same or similar gold silk and buttons. Tambour lace linen and Parisian map back will be identical. OPTIONS: Purchase pillowcase separately or with Down/Feather pillow insert (except for international purchases).  DETAILS: Pillow is fully lined, freshly laundered and strongly reinforced at the corners and insert sleeve to ensure quality craftsmanship. Most vintage fabrics show minor use or imperfections which add to the patina and authenticity of the piece. Dry cleaning is recommended. STORY: This elegant raw silk was purchased in the Indian open market by a friend, while she was visiting India. It was perfect for the vintage white linen exquisitely embroidered with gold silk thread. The embroidery method is called Tambour. Said to have originated in the mid and Far East, Tambour embroidery eventually reached Europe in the mid-1700s and quickly became a popular pastime for ladies. Instead of a needle, a hook is used to punch through the fabric. Tambour embroidery resembles a chain stitch.  The coordinating back features an antique Parisian map on quality new cotton fabric. The streets and landmarks of Paris are a golden beige on a creamy white background. Nostalgic French! Gorgeous gold and clear vintage glass buttons firmly secure a custom down/feather insert.
