Nothing cute comes in his size anymore, but I don't want something workmanlike and adult looking. The other issue is finding a pair of rain boots that holds up to the wear and tear of a very active boots. It seems that most brands crack at the seam sooner or later. These looked better online than in person--the color is sort of darker and more blah and the material more rubbery feeling (more pliable than the thick vinyl we're used to from his old kiddish style boots) and it does have that odd smell that other reviewers mentioned. Not a bad smell, per se, vaguely sweet, but not exactly delicious. Anyway, I figured I would leave it up to my son whether he liked the boots and wanted to keep them, and when he saw them, he was happy with them. I hope they hold up. The green soled boots are Walmart brand size 5 that my son has outgrown, the white soled are the new Stormtracks size 6. Quite a bit of size difference--but also better quality than the green. Note these also have a toe-off knob at the heel for easy removal. I'm keeping the size 6 for a few reasons: he can double up socks this winter, I can wear them, and they'll still fit him in 6 months.
