Must have ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This Bible will hold a child's interest. *by J***Y on July 10, 2013* Reading the Picture Bible is a great and quick way to learn Bible history in chronological order. The illustrations are great,,,very detailed. The stories are broken up into "chapters" of 3-4 pages with each chapter ending in a cliffhanger. The next chapter always begins with a short recap of what just happened in the previous chapter. The whole book is written and illustrated similar to comic books with what the characters are saying enclosed in bubbles. I would say its appropriate for ages 8-12. I am currently reading it with a 12 year old girl. She gives no indication that she considers herself too old for it....maybe because the illustrations are in no way childish but meant to appeal to older children. The only thing I am disappointed about is the fact that they skip several great stories. Two that I can think of offhand are: 1) Solomon displays his wisdom when he has to decide which woman a baby belongs to. He proclaims he will cut the baby in half and give half to each woman. The real mother protests and says to give the baby to the other woman. The false mother (jealous that her real baby died) says, "Yes! Yes! That is a good idea. Solomon says to give the baby to the real mother. 2) The story of the woman in the New Testament with the issue of blood who thought "If only I could touch the hem of his garment, I will be healed." I am still giving it a 5 because there aren't any other illustrated Bibles on the market to compare.
