Once you make a cut, the woven polyester material starts to separate into strands right away. Unless you quickly hold it together and melt the ends to restrict the fraying you end up with a mess. I do think that the sections would work very well if you didn't need to cut them to smaller segments. Even with 2 more USB cables it was loose. I ended up duct taping the cables inside and taping the housing.
