After prying it apart (you need to remove a couple of screws too, one hidden under an inspection label) I saw that the old lithium polymer battery was puffy. Bad, bad, bad. This new battery arrived in a day. Perfect size. I was planning on cutting off the connector because the battery is soldered to the circuit board. Instead, I carefully cut the plastic tab holding each connector pin inside the connector housing and extracted the pin. I soldered these pins directly to the circuit board.
