It is plenty heavy but so heavy you can't move it around when you need to. It holds 2 inch and 1 3/4 inch poles with a plastic adapter for the smaller size. It has a little hand screw clamp to keep your umbrella from spinning in the breeze. However, since I initially wrote the review, no additional rust developed or paint washed off and the stand continues to work fine. We've had problems with other stands because of the way the table is made. I carefully measured this time, including the height of the table over the umbrella pole stand. This one fit those measurements, so I bought it even though I would have preferred a different color. Unfortunately, it still didn't fit. They have the knob to screw in to hold the umbrella tighter too high and that doesn't fit with our table.
