Review: Long review but worth the read. - I am fairly young, at 29 yrs., and have had issues with stiff joints ever since childhood such as cracking wrists, stiff fingers and locking ankles when jumping or going down stairs. I have been taking this supplement twice a day for about a month and am feeling a TREMENDOUS difference in my joints. But that's not it, my skin is loving it too! I have always had great skin, but this is making it even better, it already feels firmer and am noticing the fine lines (crows feet) by my eyes are dissapearing! Also, I have been experiencing the best quality sleep I've ever had, my baby sleeps better too! If these things aren't good enough already, I am seeing my waist slim as well. It's really insane the changes I've seen. I had a baby 4 months ago and got a few small stretch marks that are hardly noticeable now also. I have not otherwise changed anything about my routine, so I know it's this stuff! (side note: the cracks and stiffness were getting a lot worse with breastfeeding over the past 4 months.) My hair and nails are much stronger, shinier and healthier too. I believe that how I am taking this is making all of the difference. In the a.m., I mix a heaping Tbsp with boiling water, organic lemon slices and a half Tbsp organic, raw locally sourced honey. In the evening, I drink 1 heaping Tbsp with warmed organic, raw, unpasteurized locally sourced milk that is grass-fed start to finish. I've always heard that warm raw milk can make you sleep better because of the enzymes, but with this, it makes all the difference. The lemon water (first thing in the am) helps your body to detox in a gentle way. The milk combo at night gives your body protein to build lean muscle and keep in mind, your body does its recovering while you sleep as well, so you're giving yourself a shot of rich vitamins, minerals and good fats necessary to heal. Also, mid-day, I take a Trace Minerals power pak, love these, I get an extra dose of the high quality minerals I need. I am breast feeding and I find I need an extra boost throughout the day. I do not notice any flavor, but my boyfriend does - he says it's totally not unbearable but can taste a slight 'beefy' note. Sometimes when I'm in a rush I will add it to my morning coffee. I only drink one 8oz cup of good quality coffee as caffeine will dry your bones out, but I believe coffee has some good benefits also in moderation, like helping to keep my sanity for one hahhah. One importank thing to note, I tried to increase my dosage to about two tbsp in one serving and got a headache, and I rarely ever get those so I can easily attribute that to the extra dosage. Think I was getting obsessive because of the results I've seen lol. I literally can't say enough about this stuff. I do yoga and my boyfriend works a physically demanding construction job(9 yrs in construction) and we both are feeling a huge difference in the fluidity of our joints! Do I get to be a paid spokesperson yet?!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this product contain lead?**
A: The only ingredient listed is bovine hydrolysate collagen. It is non-GMO, gluten free, and kosher. Hope this helps.

**Q: Where is it made at**
A: The company is based out of IL and on their website you can find useful info such as this that I've copied and pasted here: "About UsGreat Lakes Gelatin (GLG) evolved in 1988 from the original Company Grayslake Gelatin Co. which started their production in 1922. During that period both companies strived to supply both Commercial and Consumer needs for the use of high quality gelatins. In 2010 we saw a change in the industry that availed itself to the consumer market a product which we called Collagen Hydrolysate which we could make cold liquid soluble. Our interest was to use Argentinean or Brazilian cattle as they became the highest producers of cattle worldwide." More info is available. Hope it helps!

**Q: Is it just as effective if you mix it with just water rather than juice?**
A: I have been using Great Lakes Collagen powder in my coffee every morning for the past year. I noticed a significant improvement from my arthritis pain after the first 30-days. It is tasteless, odorless and doesn’t have a negative effect on my coffee. I wish I would’ve started taking this five years ago. Awesome product.

**Q: Is it from hide or other sources?**
A: "Our cattle are grass fed and slaughtered in Argentina and Brazil which is controlled by their respective Department of Agriculture. These countries have the same type of rigourous tests and inspections as the United States. Beef hides are the only product used to manufacture gelatin in these countries." from the companies FAQ page

Works great on achy tendons.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I thought it would be a good idea to supplement with Collagen because it supports tendons
*by G***E on August 5, 2016*

This has become a staple of mine for the past year or so. I am an avid runner that competes in about 3-4 full marathons a year. As an aging runner (39), I thought it would be a good idea to supplement with Collagen because it supports tendons, ligaments, and joints. I also like the idea that it may help my skin too. :-) Having said that, I have noticed a difference in my skin for the better. I use 3 heaping tablespoons a morning, and it dissolves into water pretty easily. I'm not sure what the nutritional data is, but this fills me up and keeps me full most of the morning--drinking this works out to be like breakfast, and it is gentle on my irritable stomach. It fits right in to help fill me up before a run, and since it dissolves into water, I get a wonderful, refreshing (well I wouldn't call the taste 'refreshing') drink that hydrates AND fills me up. The taste, however, is not terribly appealing. Let's just say I don't drink it because it is ooey gooey chocolatey goodness. Far from it! It's not disgusting, but not something I would choose to drink. Now mind you, I take a lot of it (3 overheaping tablespoons dissolved into 8 oz water), so I'm SURE it would be better if I used more water. You can play with the base (I'm sure it would dissolve okay in other liquids). Now I did call the company, and it comes from South American grass fed cows. Essentially I was perplexed at how the body absorbs collagen being that it based in amino acids. My understanding was that the body will only absorb a complete protein, which this is not. Well, they couldn't give me a great answer (the chemist was not available), but what they did tell me is that this is an incomplete protein missing one amino acid, hence the "collagen" designation. Now these amino acids do not have the peptide bonds that most do. I believe this to be the reason it will absorb in an unchained format, hence the body recognizes it as collagen and absorbs it as such. I would stay away from other proteins within an hour of taking this, but that's just me--the company didn't say that. They actually said it's okay to drink with anything. They may well be right (bc the amino acids are not bonded by peptides), but what can I say? I'm a little ocd in some respects!
