Review: Great sim seat with support for quick swap driving and flight controller mounting - I ordered this sim gaming chair for a few reasons: 1. It was small and would fit in my small space I have carved out for my sim gaming systems. 2. OpenWheeler customer support had responded to my inquiries about adding on flight stick and throttle (HOTAS) bracket options with their upcoming support for flying sim controllers. 3. It had a quickly and highly adjustable design for different size gamers as I host sim game parties in my home with both adults and kids getting turns which require quick adjustment for a large range of sizes. After ordering this chair and setting it up with my driving sim controller (Logitech G29 wheel, pedals and shifter) I was very pleased with its ergonomics, ruggedness and ease of use/assembly. The mounting brackets and systems were solid, not shaky or flimsy feeling while still being easily adjustable - the perfect combination. Now, to the main issue with the decision to buy this system over the next option which was over $400 more - the ability to support both driving and flying sim controllers simultaneously. The support for the flying controllers weren't actually released yet when I purchased the chair so I kept in touch with OpenWheeler customer support about when/where the brackets for the flight stick and throttle system would be available. Originally OpenWheeler customer support stated it would be middle of August when the add-on brackets would be available but when contacting them around that time they were still not available. Even though I was a bit disappointed I couldn't complain too loudly because the customer support rep, Dimitar, came through with phenomenal support by sending the beta version of the brackets to me for free. Yes, you heard me correct - for free! They had a few more available they hadn't shipped yet and since I was anxious to get the add-on brackets Dimitar sent them to me for me to test and provide feedback for. Wow, that was awesome! The brackets weren't specific to any one controller and they weren't painted but they worked great and you can be very sure that the finished product will be much more refined. The brackets were similarly solid while easily adjustable and only requiring 2 set screw knobs to swap out the shifter bracket on the right with the flight stick bracket which could be done in under a minute. While I don't typically swap between games that quickly I like the fact it is quick and easy to do. The controller is still mounted to the bracket and just the bracket is swapped out so no actual controller mounting is ever fussed with. The flight throttle on the left is usually left in place at all times so that makes it really easy. I can't say enough about the great customer support I received and if that makes any difference to you then I can vouch that OpenWheeler will take care of you. Really glad I purchased this sim gaming chair. I will buy from them again for sure if I need add-on options in the future like seat risers or bass speaker tactile transducer to get the feel right. Excellent product and design. Phenomenal customer support. Great price. What more could you expect?
Review: Everything I need in a simulator cockpit. - Admittedly, these simulator racing cockpits are rather unique and specialized purchases. I had used the Xbox One controller to earn 15 million credits and a driver level of 275 (or so) on Forza 5 before deciding that a wheel and pedals were a logical next step. And while the wheel provided a greater degree of certainty while setting up for turns, the combination of a table top mount and pedals sliding along even the carpeted floor left me with the realization that driving a racing simulator with a wheel and pedals requires a solidly mounted wheel, pedals and butt. Anyone who has driven a high performance car or motorcycle at high speeds over winding roads knows that an unreliable relationship between your hands, feet and seat makes disaster simply a matter of when, not if. In researching cockpits, I read every review I could find, watched every hands on video I could dig up and then set about to define the qualities or characteristics I desired in a cockpit. First, and foremost, I wanted a comfortable seat. Not so that I could sit for hours for an endurance race, but because I did not ever want to get up from a session feeling like I wish I had done something else. Second, I wanted a rigid wheel platform. And here, I am not talking about the kind of ridigity that is necessary for ham handed steering. I have watched videos of simulator drivers who appeared to be applying steering inputs through brute force and the wheel and mount movement reflected that effort. Third, I wanted a stiff pedal platform and, finally, I wanted a sufficient degree of adjustibility with respect to foot, hand and butt position so that I could feel both comfortable and like I was in a natural driving position. As I researched, it occured to me that having a large and permanent footprint for the cockpit was not desirable. While I was interested enough to pay the price for an RSeat, I was left with the impression that, once set up, it would own the part of the room that I placed it in. My setup includes a 120" screen with a ceiling mount projector. There are also four home theater seats that take up all but about 2' of the room on either side of the chairs. I use the room for both listening and playing music and there is a small desk off to the side with an oak rocker that is my desk chair. The Openwheeler cockpit looked like it would satisfy all my original requirements and, with the removal of a single large rubber covered knob that fixed the pedal/wheel mount to the seat, I could use the chair for my desk, too. After talking the the US distributor for OW, I decided that the combination of features and cost met my needs and I ordered the cockpit from desertcart. It arrived in two days and was in excellent shape despite a few cuts and bruises on the shipping box. There is a fair amount of "free" space in the box so I am assuming that whatever bumps and bruises the box experienced in shipping were limited to the parts of the box that had a lot of air space inside. In any case, the cockpit was pristine upon unpacking. Assembly was straightforward and took about 20 minutes. All parts appear well constructed, work together and fit well (I did have to chase a couple of the threads for the knobs that had too much powder coating inside).The wheel mount had holes that fit my Thrustmaaster FX and the pedal platform had mounting holes that worked for the TX pedals. Everything went together easily and it took about an hour of driving to fine tune the spacial relationships between hands, feet and butt. The chair itself is more comfortable than the seat that came with my Honda S2000. it slides fore and aft and has a lever to the side to adjust seat back angle. While I bought the version with the shifter mount, I have not yet used the mount. Yes, it has a post between your legs, but that is not an issue for me. The pedal platform has three mounting positions to accomodate L/R mounting positions. While elimination of the center post seems to be a nice to have feature, such a design would leave me with a cockpit that has to stay together when I am not using the simulator.. With the OW, I can break down the driving controls from the seat in 15 seconds and use the chair as my desk chair (I should add that the seat is lower than the chair I previously used for the desk, but my desk allows both the monitor base as well as the keyboard to be lowered). All in all, This is the best cockpit for me and at a very reasonable price.

I ordered this sim gaming chair for a few reasons: 1. It was small and would fit in my small space I have carved out for my sim gaming systems. 2. OpenWheeler customer support had responded to my inquiries about adding on flight stick and throttle (HOTAS) bracket options with their upcoming support for flying sim controllers. 3. It had a quickly and highly adjustable design for different size gamers as I host sim game parties in my home with both adults and kids getting turns which require quick adjustment for a large range of sizes. After ordering this chair and setting it up with my driving sim controller (Logitech G29 wheel, pedals and shifter) I was very pleased with its ergonomics, ruggedness and ease of use/assembly. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding Product and Customer Service

I rarely write reviews and when I do it is to caution others about an inferior product or customer service. Not so in this case. Open Wheeler is the type of company you wish all others could be. They offer a quality product with outstanding customer service. The product. The chair is made of solid, quality materials and when completed is very comfortable, stable and can be adjusted to a perfect fit. Putting the chair together was a breeze. The information manual was concise and easy to understand. All the parts were clearly labeled and they even provided color pictures for each stage of construction along with all the tools you need. (even a small portable socket wrench!) The chair comes equipped with wheels so it is very easy to move around or out of the way. You can tell Open Wheeler put a lot of thought into their design to make it versatile enough to cover a gambit of uses, from race to flight simulation to console gaming. They even have an option to extend the platform rearward for those who wish to recline the seat all the way. To say I am pleased with my chair is an understatement. Customer Service. When I ordered my chair, I did so with the express purpose of using it for flight simulation with the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS controls. Out of ignorance, I ordered the wrong configuration. I called Open Wheeler USA, based in Florida, direct and was connected with Dimitar who goes by "D." I explained to D that I ordered the wrong configuration, told him what I was looking for and he took it from there. He told me he would email me a return shipping label, apologized for not being able to refund my money until the parts were returned, took my order for the correct parts and sent it to me via 2 day shipping. I told him it was entirely my mistake and that I would pay for the return shipping. D told me he couldn't let do that, stressing that the number one concern for Open Wheeler is that their customers are taken care of and are satisfied with their product. He went on to say that Open Wheeler takes a lot of pride in their product and strive to make it the best it can be. I've ordered another chair for my son that D customized to his specifications. One of the parts was not immediately available. D went out of his way to keep me updated on the progress of the shipment and made sure my card was not charged until the chair was shipped. Let me stress that I've received nothing from Open Wheeler or anyone for this review. It's just that it's been a long time since I've had such a great experience with a company who want to do things the right way. Read less
