**Q: Does this product work in a portrait (lengthwise) position only, or can it accommodate a landscape (horizontal) position as well?**
A: Vertical, but I put a legal paper-sized clipboard on it horizontally and then my music scores (two pages) and it worked well.

**Q: Is the 11" x 7" back made of steel or Plastic ?   I wonder if a magnet would work.**
A: It's 8-1/4" wide (21cm) by 11-7/8" (30cm) and is all steel. Magnets stick well. The remaining parts are reasonably durable plastic.

**Q: Hello - I am wondering if it has some kind of padding on the bottom so it doesn't slide around if I need to write on the papers while using it?**
A: Yes there are 4 rubber pads on the bottom to prevent sliding.

**Q: Can the paper holder clips be taken off?**
A: Both the top clip and the ruler clip come off easily,  The flip up holders on the bottom are permanent, at least intended to be permanent.  There are screws holding the bottom together so you might, maybe.
