When coming into contact with exudate it transforms into moist gel consistency. It absorbs up to 20 times of its weight. Conforms to the shape of the wound and fills in dead space. Indications: Full- or partial-thickness wound with moderate to heavy exudate, including infected wounds or wounds with tunneling and/or undermining Bleeding wound (helps achieve hemostasis). The adhesives are particularly suited for areas around a wound: secure, but not too secure so they will stay on well but can be removed without tearing or pulling. At least that's our experience. If the wound leaks or oozes or otherwise drains, then some Calcium Alginate (at least in our situation) is used for additional absorption. There's other nose bleed strips that are marketed for minor nosebleeds, that aren't up for heavy / severe nose bleeds; they saturate completely within 5 seconds & pour blood right thru them, where I've gone thru an unopened pack of 50 of other brand nose bleed strips without success in stopping a bad nose bleed. These pads can be cut into long strips & rolled into a super tight plug that will stop the heaviest of nose bleeds I've had, EVERY TIME WITHOUT FAIL within 30 minutes.
