I have found no other paper that compares. Paper matters when you are painting professionally and as a hobby. When you don’t have the correct paper, it gets frustrating and your desire to further improve with that medium is gone. You never know when a masterpiece will be created so start off right. Claire Fontaine is the paper to use. Just wish larger sizes were offered in desertcart in Claire Fontaine Review: defective paper! Updated: Clairfontaine stands behind the quality of their product, thank you. - I bought Pastelmat a year ago that did not have this problem. When my paper arrived today it had a little crunchie in the corner of the pad from being shipped from the UK, not to bad so I thought the paper would be ok otherwise but I was shocked when I opened the shrink wrap on the pad. Every sheet had these little white spots embedded in the paper, more noticeable on the dark sheets. One of the anthracite sheets had a big scuff mark. One of the white sheets had a dark spot and black specks. This appears to be manufacturing defects, as the white spots will not come off, they are in the paper. One of the sheets had a wrinkled glassine sheet as if it had been opened before. I am including photos of all these sheets. I am in the US so this paper is very expensive and comes from the UK. I called desertcart with my complaint as it will be hard to draw on this paper with all the defects. Just want everyone know to be careful as my pad came with defects on every sheet. I am very very disappointed. UPDATE: I have contacted Clairfontaine directly and they stated there was a defective run that has been corrected at their manufacturing facility. Some of the defective batch had already been sent to distributors, thus difficult to track. They stand behind the quality of their product and sent me full replacements for my defective Pastelmat. I received absolutely perfect Pastelmat in just a few days! So just be aware that some of the 3rd party sellers may have defective batches in their inventory. Pastelmat is really unique and excellent for both colored pencils and pastels. I highly recommend this product! ## Features - Size of pad - 24 x 30 cm - The paper within the pad is 360 gsm - The paper is suitable for all dry techniques, lead, sanguine, charcoal and more - The paper is also suitable for dry pastels - The pad contains 12 sheets in colours maize, buttercup, dark grey and light grey ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0018BW53U | | Brand | Clairefontaine | | Brand Name | Clairefontaine | | Color | Assorted Colours | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 4,404 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 03329680960174 | | Item Dimensions L x W | 11.81"L x 9.45"W | | Item Type Name | Pastelmat, glued pad, 24x30cm | | Item Weight | 460 g | | Manufacturer | Clairefontaine | | Manufacturer Part Number | 96017C | | Material | Paper | | Material Type | Paper | | Model Number | 96017C | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Paper Dimensions | 24 x 30 cm | | Paper Finish | Matte | | Paper Weight | 30 | | Product Dimensions | 11.81"L x 9.45"W | | Recommended Uses For Product | Dry pastel, charcoal, sanguine, lead, mixed dry media | | Sheet Count | 12 | | Style | Card Pad No 1 | | Unit Count | 12 Count | | Warranty Description | No Warranty | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Clairefontaine - **Color:** Assorted Colours - **Material:** Paper - **Paper Finish:** Matte - **Sheet Size:** 24 x 30 cm ## Images ![Clairefontaine 24 x 30 cm PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No1, 360 g, 12 Sheets, Assorted Colours - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91P0Z40N7xL.jpg) ![Clairefontaine 24 x 30 cm PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No1, 360 g, 12 Sheets, Assorted Colours - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81eWuD++knL.jpg) ![Clairefontaine 24 x 30 cm PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No1, 360 g, 12 Sheets, Assorted Colours - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ZofkTCxAL.jpg) ![Clairefontaine 24 x 30 cm PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No1, 360 g, 12 Sheets, Assorted Colours - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71QDVBNDeML.jpg) ![Clairefontaine 24 x 30 cm PastelMat Pastel Card Pad No1, 360 g, 12 Sheets, Assorted Colours - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/812TW+7CslL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size, Style** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Claire Fontaine Pastel mat is second to none! *by A***R on September 27, 2025* I only use Claire Fontaine pastel mat when painting with pastels. It is a little difficult to blend pastel on pastelmat the way I normally did with Uart. It is better to use the pan pastel spreader than pipe foam insulation that I normally used on Uart. The pastel really sticks well to pastelmat and the colors seem bright and less prone to smudging. Pastelmat is velvety to the touch rather than like sandpaper. I am very pleased with the results and highly recommend it. ## Frequently Bought Together - Clairefontaine - Ref 96017C - Pastelmat Pastel Card Pad No.1 (12 Sheets) - 360gsm Card - 24 x 30cm - Assorted Colours - Specially Formulated For Use With Pastels - Faber-Castell Tin of 60 Pitt Pastel Artists Colouring Pencils, High Colour Ideal For Colouring, Drawing, Sketching, By Professional And Hobby Artists, Coloured Pencils Presented In A Tin --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/31835973-clairefontaine-24-x-30-cm-pastelmat-pastel-card-pad-no1](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/31835973-clairefontaine-24-x-30-cm-pastelmat-pastel-card-pad-no1) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-01*
