U2 is one of the most amazing rock bands live and we see that here. This concert was filmed in Dublin outside of Slane Castle. There are some great shots of the band with the castle in the background. What truly separates this DVD from others is the band's mood as well as the enthusiasm of the crowd. There were over 80,000 people at this concert. U2 was truly happy to be back home and it clearly showed. There is a real connection in this DVD with the crowd. This DVD captures the raw emotion that one feels when going to a U2 concert; the transformation from being a spectator to an active participant of the U2 experience. Yes, U2 is a great band. Bono is one of the best singers around with a beautiful voice. The Edge is one of the best guitar players in the Rock world. But this one is about having a good time at a great concert.There are some great performances on this DVD. The concert opens with an energetic performance of Elevation. The crowd is abosolutely energized. Another great performance is Until the End of the World. Bono's cranks up the vocals in New Year's Day. He sings it with great emotion. A true highlight of the concert is Out of Control. Bono acts as if U2 is a new band introducing their first single. He screams "We hope you like it" and brilliantly starts singing the song. He later introduces each band member and where they are from. As the song slows down, he thanks each parent of the band for giving them 500 pounds so they can get their music career going. He then thanks the crowd for giving them at least 500 pounds each day and roars back into the song with the crowd going into a frenzy. Really breathtaking.Almost every song is worth talking about on this DVD. I only will discuss 2 more. U2 delivers a brilliant performance of All I Want is You. It is a truly romantic love song that is shared by couples as "their song". Bono dedicates this song to his wife. The vocals and music are truly a thing of beauty. Bono gets the crowd to chant along with him on this song. Eventually, the music stops. Bono and the crowd continue to chant back and forth. As this is going on, we hear the familiar begining of Where the Streets Have No Name. This is the highlight of the concert. As the lights start flashing and the Edges guitars begin to rev up, Bono starts running around the stage which extends into the crowd. The crowd goes into a frenzy and Bono starts singing. You could barely hear Bono singing because the crowd is singing along so loud with him. Truly incredible performance. An even better perfomance of Where the Streets Have No Name is recorded on the Boston tour DVD. That version of the song may be the best live performance of a song that I have ever seen. The U2 Go Home DVD may be the best recorded concert ever. If you're a U2 fan, you won't be disappointed. If you're not a fan, you will be after watching this concert. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Limited Love for the DVD of an Incredible Show. . . *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 19, 2003* I had already seen U2's CBS special entitled 'U2's beautiful day' that aired more than a year ago and knew how special this concert was to U2 fans and to the band. There was an incredible energy there that evening and U2 seemed to love every minute of it. Indeed, I have been hoping for this release since seeing that special. I even lobbied for its release with Bono when I ran into him in NYC this past spring. Usually U2 can do no wrong in my eyes. I guess I expected too much from the world's greatest band.BOTTOM LINE:If you love U2, you'll like this DVD and it's worth purchasing. There are some precious moments, like when Bono is talking about their families' respective financial contributions when they were starting out 20 years earlier. This DVD adds some tracks missing from the Boston DVD: One, Mysterious ways, and Pride, all of which were sorely missed from that production. Where's the Behind the scenes/Making of documentary? Bizarre. However, I still get goose bumps whenever I watch `Where the Streets Have No Name' on this DVD, so it passes that test.THE DVD:**16:9 gritty video with a substandard set of 5.1 mixes-- the DTS is not any better than the DD, but they're both below the standard previously set by the Boston DVD, which I thought was a lot better. However, Bono's vocals are incredibly good and come through very clearly. There are not enough crowd microphones-- you can barely here them at some key times. I can't even put my finger on exactly what's wrong with the audio, it just doesn't carry enough of the emotion that there was that night.**NO documentary of this show, which I found amazingly odd-- the CBS special had some touching moments of Bono talking about his father who had just passed away. I find it very strange that there's nothing about U2 returning to Slane.**Annoying menus that seem slapped together at the last minute.OVERALL:Not a polished U2 production- better than Popmart, but certainly not as good as the Boston DVD. I wish the audio was more engaging.
