I try to cut down on grooming cost, so I clip her nails myself, but they're always sharp afterwards so i thought I'd give this a try. Works great! I completely removed the protector as suggested for a large dog. Next, I clipped her nails with clippers, and used this to grind them down. She's pretty good about letting me handle her paws for clipping, and didn't seem very alarmed by the grinder or the sound it made. I only gave it 4 stars as I've only had to use it once so far. They won't let me clip them with regular clippers, and normally something vibrating against their paw would scare them. I don't know what it is about this product but my dogs don't really mind it when I use this on them. It does take a little longer than I would like because you have to go slow, and it makes a bit of a mess and produces a pretty bad smell.
