I laser cut the holes in the wood first.** A: I don't see why you couldn't. I use crafter's chip board, and your covers probably won't be that much thicker. You would have to laser the holes at a 3:1 ratio as that is the size coils are sold for this machine. The only snag might be coil size. I have only found them as large as 9/15", so depending on how large of a book you are making that might get tight. There is also a bit of a learning curve to getting nice round coils. The trick is to push the ready to bind coil up against the back wall, rest your pages on the top and squeeze the handle down slowly. Otherwise you end up with an oval. **Q: What is the biggest wire you can use and what brand of coils do I order with it?** A: Either 1.5 or 2.0 inches **Q: Do you have a machine that can bind 200 pages of 80gsm paper? And a laminated cover?** A: You have to load a few at a time. **Q: Can I use this with coil binds as well?** A: Hello. Thank you for your question.
