The vid shows an "X pattern" method for strap holding. What's the deal?** A: The video is showing a different model of the same product that rotates with the guitar strap. The version you're asking about is fixed in place and does not rotate. You mount them to the instrument the same way then just attach the strap and assure that the long part of the ellipse is across the slot in the strap to secure it. Thanks Russell Guy** A: Sorry to hear. They're easy enough to make from a neoprene washer. If you alter the hole and slit in your strap its a little easier to get on and off. Set the points on the pins perpendicular to the guitar and they never come off accidentally. I've now replaced all my strap buttons with these. **Q: Can these be installed on a ukulele or are the screws too long?** A: I installed these on a Tenor Uke and they are just fine. I had previously used a large head type on other guitars, but these are easier to put the strap over, yet provide secure attachment - no problems with detaching is use so far after several gigs and weeks of practice. Update: after using these on several guitars for several years, I stay with my 5 star rating. However, recently I had two occurrences of guitars slipping off the end pin. First time I wrote it off as a fluke, but when it happened a second time, I did a close inspection. What had happened was that my leather straps were all getting a bit aged (nice and supple!), and the keyhole slot that fits over the button had gotten elongated, to the point where the strap could easily slip over even the widest part of the elliptical head. The fix for this was some button thread and a needle, and to basically close the slot off lower down.
