While they can only protect the circuits they’re on, they do an excellent job of protecting older (and new) wiring from arc faults and fires, while eliminating a prevalent cause of nuisance tripping. If you have knob and tube or aluminum wiring, installing these breakers is hands down the best thing you can do for safety and fire prevention, short of a whole rewire. First time I installed one I had a hard time figuring out where to land the neutral wire and it turned out both neutrals and the the neutral pigtail goes on the neutral bar.
