## Description

Offered is a handmade black walnut natural bark edge wooden trivet or hot pot holder. Trivets provide protection to your table from hot dishes or items that could damage your furniture. Our handmade trivets make beautiful decorative kitchen accessories. This trivet was hand milled from a single piece of solid Indiana black walnut hardwood from a neighbors tree. The raw logs were cut into planks and dried for 4 years in our garage. This piece measures 16 1/8" in length by 7" to 7 1/4" taper wide by 7/8" thick. This is the exact item for sale. This is finished with all natural mineral oil. Mineral oil is a non-drying oil, which means that it will not polymerize (form a plastic-like substance) over time. This is good for oiling wood surfaces that are in contact with water or heat because it will stay a bit liquid in the wood and flow into cracks and scratches. It is also food-safe and won't go rancid or support microorganisms. Mineral oil is inexpensive and available at a wide variety of stores. Periodic reapplication of the oil after cleaning the trivet will return it to like new condition. Use mild soap during cleaning and it should not be submerged in water.
