He still wears it daily and as I said before, just the mention of the clicker reels him in. The transmitter and receiver are not holding their charge very long and we've had to replace the actual vinyl covered collar. The bracket that hold it on the collar have broken off and hubby has adapted zip ties to keep it on. I do still use it to walk in town off leash and to get his attention when he's on a scent trail. Wish they would make design with regular batteries. ***UPDATE*** 7/3/2017 Bandit is now 14 months old. We rarely use the collar these days, but he does still wear it. My husband has become disabled and lets the dog in and out but cannot follow him around the yard. When it's time to bring him back in he just alerts Bandit with the tone and he comes running. As a deterrent to bad behavior, I simply say "Don't make me get that clicker" and reach into my pocket, he immediately stops what he was doing. It also helps me walk him off leash when his beagle nose causes him to wander. Worth every penny! Great product. The orange plastic is wearing off the collar and I'm hoping to purchase a new water proof collar and use it for many more years.*** Very effective training tool. Our 4 month old beagle has learned very quickly to respond with just the sound or the vibrate. We've only used the shock setting once when he was being particularly hard headed about leaving the yard. It brought him right back to us. Now he does "come" on our first request. If you've ever had a beagle you know they rarely listen when their nose is to the ground. My only complaint is the 1/2 option which would switch from one dog to another. I have accidentally switched it to #2 and was very frustrated when he didn't respond. You must be aware of which number it is set to. For the money I think it is a great choice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Improvement over the DW-3 but a few drawbacks. *by J***Z on September 1, 2016* I purchased this item for the list price and my only objective in leaving a detailed review is to help other shoppers.I bought this to replace my Dogwidgets DW-3 collar after I left it in the kennel and it got chewed lol. My dog (a hunting breed) was trained for two years by the kennel that bred him using an electric collar so we continue to use one from time to time since he responds to it the best. I very seldom use anything but the vibrate setting. I've used it for a few days and so far I like using it a bit better than the DW-3 but there are a couple of drawbacks.Pros:-Lighted display for use at night-Light on collar and remote so you know that they are communicating-There's a sound feature which is also a great non-painful training aid in addition to the vibration. You could, for example, train your dog to come inside when he hears the tone so you don't have to call for him in the middle of the night-Very adjustable levels of vibration and shock-Orange Collar that's very adjustable and coated for durability-Remote and collar are rechargeable from the same cable (if you order an extra charger or if you happen to have one you can charge both at the same time)-Unit's charge seems to last longer than the DW-3 even with the extra featuresCons:-Have to flip through functions to get the one you want rather than pushing the appropriate button-It is easy to flip to the wrong setting and accidentally shock your dog and the shock seems very strong. You will fell awful if you do this. You can, however, set the shock level to "0" which I would recommend doing. If you do want to use the shock feature I'd start very small and work your way up.-This is a big one for me - the charging port on the unit is underneath the collar. You have to take the collar off of the unit, clean the unit if it's dirty to avoid getting crud inside the unit, and then remove this little plug to connect it to the charger. The plug that goes back in to the charging port is a real pain in the behind to get back in and seems a bit flimsy - like it eventually might break off and then the charging port would be exposed to all of the crud that ends up under a dog's collar and potentially shortening it's life. We shall see.My over all impression is very positive and I like this collar better than the old one. I took away two stars for the awkward charging of the unit but added a star for the improved features and addition of a rechargeable battery in the remote. If the unit lasts the rainy season I'll put a star back. ### ⭐ ... bought this product product thinking that it was a good value, and yes *by D***S on May 14, 2017* I bought this product product thinking that it was a good value, and yes, the price point was fine, but extremely unreliable. I have a dog that like to bolt every time she goes out, and living in a home where I can't have an invisible fence I thought this would work. When vibrating to deliver a warning it would work seamlessly, but at times I had to deliver a shock I could never get it to work when needed. Also the icing on the cake. I fully charged the device the first time of use as per the instructions and it lasted almost a week. The second charge I went to use it and it wouldn't charge. I would recommend a training collar to some one with a dog, but not this one.
