It's "compact", so fits in your jeans pocket or the stopwatch pocket (I use a stopwatch chain to keep it from falling out of the little pocket). It's about as thick as the Tinker, but has a lot more tools crammed into it. It truly is the best for size vs features:COMPACT:- Large blade (*See tips below.)- Combo tool (combines the separate can and bottle openers on most SAKs into one: flathead, phillips, can opener, bottle opener, wire cutter, pry bar, and also has the half-stop for more torque).- Scissors - a must-have for me.- Cork screw with embedded mini driver. (*See tips below.)- Pin - hidden behind the corkscrew. Useful for picking out slivers, some find it useful as a compass needle somehow.- Hook tool - I find this tool useful, and the Compact is one of only two models in production that I know of that includes a nail file on the back of the stem. (*See tips below.)- Pressurized Pen - really cool for when you need a pen and don't have one around. (*See tips below.)- Tweezers - slivers, grabbing small items, I've used it to remove/replace tiny watch screws.- Tooth pick - I use mine daily and keep it clean.That's a heck of a lot of tools crammed into such a thin SAK, hence the name "Compact". Although I like the Tinker and Super Tinker, in my opinion, the Compact renders them obsolete.*Tool Tips:1. Open the Hook, slide the pen into it's slot, then close the hook down onto the pen. This locks the pen in place allowing you to use the whole knife as a pen grip.)2. Take a needle and wrap some non-cotton thread around it, then stuff it under the Hook tool. Now you also have a needle and some thread for rips and tears for things like clothes, tent, etc.3. Large blade: in good lighting, and if you keep the sides clean, you can actually use it as a pseudo mirror for checking facial cuts, teeth, etc.4. The Corkscrew may not be everyone's "#1" tool, but it does add versatility since you already have screw drivers in the Combo tool, plus it stores the mini screw driver for fixing glasses and things with tiny screws. I've used it to adjust the speed lever on my pocket watch as well as tighten my glasses.You can easily see why I find this SAK the most versatile model for its size. It also seems underrated, maybe most people aren't aware it exists. The two tools I carry when I travel are: the SwissChamp as a "do it all" knife, and the Compact as a satellite EDC to the SwissChamp. With those two SAKs you are ready for just about anything.UPDATE 6/23/15:I've grown pretty attached to this knife. I have a handful of Compacts but my original black one is the one I always grab. One thing I'd like to mention about the combo tool as a can opener: I have SAK's with either version of the can opener, and to be honest I prefer the combo tool's can opener over the standard dedicated version. They're both adequate, (we're talking SAK's here not expensive kitchenware), but I'm always opening cans of tuna and I find the combo tool works with a breeze. It doesn't need a sharp edge, and I think those who point out that lack of edge as a "flaw" haven't really used it. It works surprisingly well - better than the standard version in my experience. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My new favorite EDC SAK *by J***H on Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2019* This is a great everyday carry Swiss Army Knife. I previously carried a Fieldmaster which is a 4 "layer" knife but I wanted something slimmer in my pocket.The beauty of the SAK Compact is that it gives you pretty much everything you need for an EDC knife and at the same time consolidates or eliminates some of the tools to make the whole package much smaller.The Compact is a 2 layer knife. Victorinox has achieved this slim design by first consolidating the blade and screwdriver/can opener slots from 2 slots down to one. They did this by removing the small blade, and in it's place adding a screwdriver/bottle opener/wire stripper that also functions as a can opener, thereby removing the separate can opener tool. So the first slot now has the large blade and the new multi-tool piece rather than a small blade.The second slot on the same side as the main blade has the scissors.The reverse side of the knife has the standard "hook" that most people think is useless, but on the edge of the hook they have added a nail file. This is a nice feature that seems like it should just be on all models rather than the smooth surface of the hook.The other tool on the reverse is the corkscrew, which on this model comes with the tiny eyeglass screwdriver threaded inside. The eyeglass tool is very handy to have and can be added to any SAK with a corkscrew, so it's nice that it is included on this model.This model also includes the pin in the tiny hole underneath the corkscrew (all models have the hole for this as well, but not many come with the actual pin).They have really gone all in on this one and also included the "Deluxe" scales (the red sides) that feature not only the usual toothpick and tweezers but also have the tiny pen as well. The pen is super convenient to have with you all the time!To me this is the best SAK model for EDC. It's about as slim as you can get (two slot) while still having the corkscrew, pen, tweezers, etc. There are some slightly slimmer models that use the ALOX scales on the sides but then you lose the storage that allows for the pen, etc. on the sides.The only improvement I might possibly make would be to add a Phillips screwdriver. If they made a model with the Phillips screwdriver rather than the corkscrew I would carry that instead as I find that a Phillips driver is much more useful for everyday carry than a corkscrew. However, if the corkscrew was removed then there wouldn't be anyplace to store the eyeglass screwdriver, so it's a compromise. If they could squeeze in a smallish Phillips screwdriver instead of the hook tool then they could leave the corkscrew on it as well... but that's for a different model.In the meantime this knife is perfect for almost anything you'd throw at it during daily life. It doesn't have the wood saw like my Fieldmaster, but I don't really need a wood saw at work, so I save my thicker, feature-packed knives for hiking and camping when I can just toss them in a backpack and not have them weighing down my pocket. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The SAK with all the Bells and Whistles! *by A***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2019* The Compact has become one of my most carried Swiss Army Knives!It has everything you might need on a daily basis and nothing you don't.Blade is great for a variety of cutting tasks. Combo Tool can open both cans and bottles alike.It also functions as both a Phillips and Flathead screwdriver in a pinch.Scissors are great for opening packages or more delicate cutting tasks.Sometimes Scissors just make a cleaner cut and are safer then using the main Blade.The Corkscrew may prove either useless or a blessing depending on your refined drinking habits.Either way, it houses the small Eyeglass Screwdriver, which has proven very valuable on several occasions.The Hook isn't something you'll probably use everyday, but it doesn't take up much space or weigh much, so I can live with it. It does have a Nail File on the back, so at least Victorinox used every inch of the tool.The Hook IS good for holding the Pen that comes with the Plus Scales for easier writing.That's right, it has a Pen! The Plus Scales have a 3rd slot for a mini ball point Pen.Often times you might want to leave a note, but don't have a Pen. Not anymore...Lastly, underneath the Corkscrew there is a small Pin housed inside the Cellidor Scales.The Pin is handy if you want to pop a child's birthday balloons while simultaneously teaching them that this world is harsh and cruel.
