Straight 50B will filter down to 2 microns and this mix of 50A & 50B will filter to 3 to 5 microns. The tiny bit larger size in this mix mostly likely allows for a more efficient pool filter operation with less electricity used and less strain on your pump. It is still small enough to get my pool sparkling clear. Highly recommended. **Q: Why we use this and when we should use this?** A: You would use it if you have a DE filter running with your pool.
