Maybe mine isn't as bad as some, but it smells like any piece of new leather item which will go away with time for sure (I don't notice it all unless I'm burying my nose in it trying to find the smell). The color of the bag I got is MUCH lighter than in the picture (more of a light orange tan), but again it's leather and pieces stain different. Nothing about this bag has surprised me in a negative way. To be honest, for the price, the stitching is better than expected and all the buttons, zippers, and seams are incredibly solid. The inner lining is durable enough for me to throw my odds and ins into for weekend trips. Also the bag is a good size for the price.
