## Description

The power amplifier is the heart of your home theater system. Only a truly great power amp can render the delicate subtleties of an intimate scene in all its finest detail, deliver the pounding sound track of the latest blockbuster thriller, or make it sound like your favorite rock Group is right there in the room with you. Sadly, the amplifiers in many receivers, even though they may at first seem to be rated for plenty of power, just aren't up to the task. Some are underpowered; others don't drive real world speaker loads very well; and some start to sound muddled and confused when you Ask them to play complex musical passages at anything resembling realistic listening levels. The XPA-3 Gen3 Features a classic audiophile class a/b topology, with dual differential inputs, all discrete components, and a short, highly optimized signal path. Our optimized class H power supply topology gives the New XPA-3 Gen3 higher efficiency than its predecessor, and the New switch mode power supply delivers tightly regulated power, with better efficiency, and reduced overall weight. The XPA-3 Gen3 is also modular, which means that you can add more channels later - up to a total of seven channels. The XPA-3 Gen3 offers the Features like machined gold plated RCA connectors, audiophile grade speaker binding posts, and top quality parts and construction throughout. If you're looking for a way to upgrade the critical three front channels of your existing home theater system, or for the centerpiece of a superb New system, the XPA-3 Gen3 will give you the sound you want, and the quality you need. The XPA-3 Gen3 - pure audiophile power: 275 watts RMS per channel, all channels driven, into 8 ohms. 300 watts RMS per channel, two channels driven, into 8 ohms. Th.D.: 115 db. (ReF rated power; a-weighted). power bandwidth: 20 Hz - 20 kHz +/- 0.1 db.

Review: but you cannot get a better sounding $1000 3 channel amp - This AMP is beyond incredible. Yes we know there are way more expensive amplifiers and some are worth the money, but you cannot get a better sounding $1000 3 channel amp. I'm using it to drive my Polk Audio lsi25 L/R and lsiC. These speakers are 4ohm and very power hungry. Once I connected them to this emotiva, it was night and day. If you have any doubts about this unit, take it from a very picky audiophile. Clarity, musical, balanced, and extreme detail. Emotiva is shaking up the power amp market with affordable power and performance.
Review: Great Amp for the Money - If you don't have $3k for a Parasound get this. @ $1200 it's a real good deal. The Gen 3 amps are more neutral and warm the Gen 1 & 2. Voices come out clear with no harsh highs. I can listen to Rush 2112 @ -5db and not get a head ache. Mid bass is great (have the C/O on my AVR @ 80HZ). Overall performance is great. I did an A/B with just my AVR (Denon AVR-X4400H) powering my speakers . The depth and detail is so much grater with the amp over the AVR. I also looked at Outlaw and Monoprice. Glad I got the XPA-3.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: if i buy this emotiva amp, would i need an av receiver that delivers 1.5 volts from the pre out to the emotiva amp? in that case which receiver?**
A: Yes, you will need and AV Receiver or a pre-amp to deliver the audio to the amp. You will also need some decent RCA cables. Denon, Marantz and Yamaha are good AV Receivers. Make suree they have pre-amp out puts. Most sub $600 receives do not.

**Q: Does each channel require explicit input? could we use 2 channel preamp output as input to an xpa4 - 4 channel outputs?**
A: Yes, you can do this. I do this with a different amp manufacturer. I run 560watts/channel into my speakers. All you need is an RCA or XLR cable that is "split" so that the one channel from your preamp is split into the two ends(XLR) in the amp. Ibought a HOSA YXM-101.5 XLR cable, from AMAZON, and it works wonderfully well. Most people put the lion's share of their audio investment into their speaker purchase. And that is as it should be. But the system is only as good as its weakest link. Aplifiers, while not considered "sexy" by the audiophile uninitiated are often appreciated once a copious amount of quality power-as the Emotiva here can deliver-is driven through a good set of speakers. In fact, most speaker "blow outs" are not caused by too much plwer but rather by too little. A good or great(as this Emotiva is) amplifier is the crowning touch to a great sound system.

**Q: .1% thd into 8 ohms? and a 39# amp really? just how long will this hold up at reference levels?**
A: i pair it with Kef Blade speakers never an issue

**Q: How does this connect to a marantz 7011 for front and center? i don't see any rca slots on here. is it just single rca per slot?**
A: You will connect a 9V trigger from the marantz to the amp then use coaxial cable to connect the speakers from the marantz and amp including the speaker wires to the amp

### ⭐ Denon/Klips
*by T***S on January 14, 2018*

Awesome amplifier. Was kicking around the idea of getting a vintage amp to really drive my RS7ii, I gave this a try and was happily impressed and If you love or hate Klips you owe it to yourself to hear them through a good amplifier, it changes everything. Large speakers or small a strong amp always makes a difference. I have a Denon 6300 which most would say could easily drive my speakers, and it does, just not as well as the Emotiva, and I would wager just about any other amplifier in its range. Build quality is very good, packaging as well. I haven't had any problems, but I did call tech support while waiting for the unit, I was concerned about the preamp voltage on my Denon and the Emotivas matching. They assured me it wouldn't be an issue they were right dynamics haven't missed a beat haven't fried anything (third channel is driving a Klip RC64ii) and an added bonus is the other 8 channels in the Denon have quite a bit more headroom now. Shortly after my initial review, the 12v switching started giving me problems, I tested the cable which was fine and replaced it just for good measure, I believe its a cold solder joint. I was willing to live with that, something I could easily fix myself at a later date. About a week later I was playing it pretty hard for a long while and the safety's tripped. Powered down and it reset, the amplifier was obviously warm but not hot so I proceeded to thoroughly check all the cables and found no issues, so I decided to exchange it as I was still in the return period with Amazon. Great service on their part, had a new unit in 2 days. The second unit came up and ran fine for a few days, then yesterday the safteys tripped again. I am in the middle of returning it now. Carver made some impressive advancements in bringing hi end audio sound down to an affordable level. I thought the same would be true of Emotiva, and it is with the exception of production quality. I'm going to have to lay out a considerably larger amount of money to replace it, but that is better than always wondering how long it's gonna work . FYI this was not a power or ventilation issue. The unit sits solo on a counter top with an AC Infinity Cooler (Not that it ever seemed to need it). The Amp had a dedicated 20A circuit with 10ga wire and Leviton Panel Surge Protection. Both lines on the panel are monitored by two APC UPS units for my gaming rig and network.
