Equipped for use in the car Now you can take advantage of the many advantages of the most powerful CB portable radio station from President in your car. The station comes with a dedicated adapter with cigarette lighter plug and radio antenna plug and fits in the palm of your hand (similar to a walkie talkie). The station can be used with one hand without any problem. In addition, the small size allows you to place it either in the dedicated support in the package, or in the armrest, or in the storage spaces on board any car. Equipped for use in the field or parking lot A rarity among the CB farewell statuary are those that can be used outdoors. In general, CB radio stations can only be used in cars with a dome antenna. Unlike most, the Randy III portable radio station comes with a battery and a threaded antenna for use in the open field, parking lots or other areas near traffic areas. In this outdoor mode "Outdoor" station allows the same communication in the babda CB, the communication band of drivers. Multi-color screen The station comes with an illuminated screen in 7 interchangeable colors. Review: Great handheld radio, with the extra cost. - For UK it came with an adapter to make the charger fit a UK plug. I've had some great copies with it, using the supplied rubber duck, on a hill, I got 25 miles radio 4 to 5. The functions are easy to get to on the go and the ease of access means that they have been well thought out. The supplied car adapter is well built and solid with standard female for a car aerial. Very loud if turned up. Can select FM, FM UK and AM and the are international band selection for a few countries. Display is very clear. Love the colours But it's about the receiver sensitivity and transmitter audio. It's not quite 4 watts but the superb transmit audio is very clear on the other end even if slightly quiet. SWR's in excellent to a mag mount and got almost as good a signal to the receiving station using a long telescopic (bought separately) amazing. The aerial mount on the radio is a TNC not BNC, that annoyed me at first but now, using the larger telescopic aerial im glad it's the TNC, more solid a connection. Belt clip is good. I never considered President radios because of the price but after the performance of this one, I think the price is worth the extra for an excellent bit of kit. Heard some great skip all the way from the US on the telescopic while out walking as well at some points during the day, though no answers yet to my requests for a copy. Don't forget though that elevation is key for any radio. 73's!
Review: Absolutely amazing - Range is amazing | CB is alive and well! - I am absolutely in love with this handheld. The quality of features, construction and performance has blown my mind, along with the minds of many of the contacts I've made within a week of owning it! Along with the Randy 3, I purchased a 1.3m TNC telescopic antenna to give myself an advantage in terms of reception but the rubber duck that comes with the handheld is probably the best stock antenna on the market, too! I took this handheld to a local high spot overlooking the area, around 220ft high and my mind was blown. I have made contact with people over 45 miles away and they were crystal clear in terms of quality. They were shocked to the point of near doubt that I was on a handheld, given how strong and clear of a signal I was giving them. Now I've made a load of contacts on the CB that I'm getting to know! I have two tips for potential users that I wish I'd known initially! 1) Go into the radio's menu and turn 'eco mode' to OFF (shows as 'Of'). 2) Go to a place that is as high as possible and clear of obstructions such as trees, electronic interference such as homes/electrical wires, etc. This will ensure the best potential to receive and transmit. The Randy 3 is my first ever foray into CB radio. I bought this admittedly expensive device in the face of objections that "CB is dead!" and "Nobody has been on CB since the 80s!". Even with the absolute lowest of expectations I have come out with results that have shocked even the veterans on the airwaves who've been doing this for decades. Location played a huge part, to be sure, but this sort of performance for a handheld is absolutely wild. Even if it's expensive, this product is worth every penny and it's inspired me to start saving up to get a dedicated antenna for my home to make a home base setup to go even further into the hobby. You get a lot of extras with this handheld, too: such as a car adapter for mobile setups, a belt clip, the works as should be expected at this price point. Also comes with a 2-3 year warranty! All in all, I can't praise this handheld enough. It's the perfect way to get into CB and make it even more portable and versatile.

**Q: Is the car lead also compatible with 24v**
A: No it is only rated for 12v you would need an additional voltage dropper unit (not included)

**Q: what range dose it have what range dose it have**
A: I'd say the previous reply was a reasonable estimate - back when conditions on 11 & 10m were way better, I used to see 15+ miles outdoors away from built up areas, but even once got a 30+ range contact and extended chat between my now ancient 4W HH CB I used back in the day on it's stock helical antenna.

But in fairness, 10/11m activity and propagation was way better then - ever since Chernobyl blew it's stack, it's not been anywhere near as great on 10/11m sadly.


So on a good day, at least 15 miles working from high open ground isn't beyond reasonable expectation.  But I would keep the factory helical for everyday use, but if out in the sticks, where longer range and need for longer range is desirable/needed, I'd put a TNC->BNC adaptor on the radio's set top socket and plug in an Abbree 42" Tactical antenna - I use one as my 10m portable antenna on an FT-818 ham set, and whilst a bit bulky, if you want range - it'll be a vast improvement on the factory helical.  If I was to buy a Randy III (which I'm tempted to try out), that's the antenna I'd use to maximise range.  The Abbree is pre-cut for 11m and works best (as supplied) on the CEPT segment but is wide band enough to use on the UK seg - I just trimmed mine for 10m use to centre it across 28-29 MHz, but still have a few unmodified examples as spares of which one will become my CB portable antenna if I buy an R III.

**Q: Is a battery including**
A: Yes the battery is included it is built in the set itself and is rechargeable via the lead that is also included. The battery can be removed and is replaceable should it eventually die.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect to get back into CB for novices and pros

If you were a teen in the 80s then and wanting some reminiscencing then this is the kit for you. Some say there aren’t as many people using CB these days, which is true. But there are enough to make it exciting. The Randy 3 is perfect. I bought a Midland ALAN 4DS, the Randy blows it out of the water hands down. Save yourself some time and stick with the Randy. It’s the handheld of choice by pros and amateurs alike. Just ensure you follow this pointers for happy CB’ing in the UK… 1. Switch your Randy to UK from EU 2. Turn the device off 3. Press and keep held down the function button 4. Whilst switching on the unit 5. Press up or down until you see U 5. Press function 6. Turn off then on the device 6. Press mode until you see FM UK (see photo) EARS ON! You’re good to go. Get yourself a mag aerial for your car. I went with the 1.5m Thunderpole, my Randy 3 woke up!! The Randy 3’s awesomeness doesn’t stop there. It comes with the house charger and car charger that includes the necessary cable to attach to an aerial in the car. Also consider buying a mic/speaker - only buy the President models because the spacing of the jacks on other makes aren’t the correct distance. I ended up buying the mic only accessory (like the little handheld with the coiled cable) for the car. It’s legal to use and you don’t need the sound coming from it, just use it as the mic. Don’t forget channel 19 is you go-to channel. Welcome to 1981, enjoy :)
