**Q: I'm new to orchid care and I've only owned orchids in sphagnum moss, how often do I need to water my orchid when using this medium?**
A: Phals get their moisture and nutrients from the air, not the potting medium.  If their air roots get smothered with moist moss, they will rot.  I used to use a lot of moss but learned the hard way to add a lot of porosity with bark, styrofoam, wooden balls, etc.  They need moist air, not wet soil.  I water my phals about once every 2 weeks when it is humid and once every 7 to 10 days when it is drier.  Epiphyte orchids (air orchids) do not need potting medium.  We only use it to keep the plants from falling over.  Give them moist air and they will be happy.  A good reference book is Orchid Care For the Beginner by Barbara Schmidt.  Available on Amazon.  I have 10 Phals and 2 Neostylus, 4 are blooming now and 2 are starting flower stalks and only one is new.  All of the others I have owned for over a year and gotten them to re-bloom.  My orchids thrive on neglect.

**Q: Hello, i would like a rich orchid mix for my phalaenopses.  i  have sphagnum so i prefer a mix w/ no or less moss & charcoal.  which is recommended?**
A: This mix has little moss if any, and I don’t think any charcoal. It has wood chips and these clay balls that absorb water and release it slowly. My orchids love this mix, and so do my African violets.

**Q: Will this work well for an sv espresso mini orchid? newbie to orchids and my first is not happy at all. lots of unopened buds.**
A: I'm also a newbie to orchids so did some research after being gifted with an orchid.  Orchids live on trees in rain forests and do not require dirt.  This medium consists of bark chips and stones with a little spaghnum moss.  I repotted my little orchid into an orchid pot with many slits in it for air circulation and drainage.  Then placed it in a bright window (no sun) and made sure it had about 12 hours of darkness every day.  Within a few weeks it started growing new leaves, then some roots, and finally about a month ago, a stem with buds which are now open and gorgeous.  So, in answer to your question, the medium is very good, allows roots to grow without too much water.  Too much water will rot the roots and stem.  More advice on YouTube. Hope this helps.

**Q: Can I use this mix for Dendrobium, or it's only for Phalaenopsis?**
A: They sell mixes just for dendrobiuns. This is formulated for phalaenopsis but would problem be ok. This is a great brand. And they also sell a soil that is for most orchids. That might be a better choice.
