## Overview

The Mini-Box picoPSU-80 is a compact, 80-watt DC-DC power supply designed for mini-ITX and small form factor PCs. Featuring a unique snap-in 20-pin ATX connector, it eliminates bulky cables to save space and improve airflow inside your chassis. With quiet operation and reliable 12V input, it’s perfect for powering SSDs and low-power systems, delivering efficient and clean power in a minimalist footprint.

## Description

The PicoPSU design features a "snap-in" design removing the need for a ATX cable. The PicoPSU connects directly to the ATX power connector on your motherboard saving space and eliminating 24 unnecessary wires. This provides a cleaner environment for your components and reduces the amount of used space inside of your chassis to improve air flow.

Review: Good Option for Small Systems - Used with Intel D2500CCE mini-ITX in an M 350 Universal ITX case with a 5A 12V power brick and it works great with a 2.5" SATA SSD. As mentioned it is only a 20 pin ATX connector not 24 but the extra 4 pins are redundant 3.3V, 5V, 12V1 and ground. This supply won't put out enough current to need the extra pins and it worked fine on the D2500CCE which has a 24 pin connector. The 150W and 160W picoPSU's have 24 pin connectors and these and everything larger than 80W have 12V Aux connectors if you need them. The unit fits in the M350 case with plenty of space to spare for drives mounted above it. Very little heat is generated and it only draws about 2A off the 12V supply with the system above. Total power draw at the plug is about 15W when not idling according to my Kill-A-Watt meter. Works great in this low power application and seems to have plenty of power to spare.
Review: So after years it turns out 80W was just a bit too tiny - It's really hard to calculate your wattage need - my calculations were in the mid/high 60ies so I went for the 80W. For about 2 years this has run a small ITX hypervisor with a small SSD and as much memory as I could put in the very small box. It's worked great but a few times I've found it powered off for no reason what so ever. Last week it gave up powering on. PSU etc. tests just fine outside the motherboard - and everything does turn on for a second or so, so the unit is just too small. I've enjoyed the quiet running for years - if that's important, go for it. But be careful using this for high performance, gaming would be part of that. Add more than just 10-15W buffer to your PSU if you do.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect for HTPC and silent operation!
*by O***Y on June 2, 2015*

This PSU worked perfectly for my HTPC that is using a mini ATX KB 5200 motherboard with AMD quad core 2.0Ghz, with 8GB 1600 RAM, PNY 240 GB SSD, Sapphire R7 240 1GB and 4TB WD Red. Idle consumes 25watts, and full load 58 watts. Running Plex on this machine and it adds about $2.35 extra on my electric bill ($.12 per KWH). This computer is close to complete silent due to just needing 1 x 120mm fan that is 19db when full tilt. Been running this PSU for 4 months with 2 reboots (updates) and still running strong.
