On the stovetop or grill, the Lodge Cast Iron Grill Press keeps bacon from curling and presses out unwanted grease from burgers. When preheated, the press also significantly speeds up cooking time. The heavy-duty cast iron base with a rustic hammered finish provides excellent heat retention for consistent, even cooking, and the spiral handle allows for a safe, comfortable grip. This grill press is safe to use in the oven, on the stove or grill, and over a campfire. The Lodge Cast Iron Grill Press is made for decades of cooking and comes pre-seasoned for an easy-release finish that improves with use. Assembly requires a flathead screwdriver and an adjustable wrench or pliers. Includes one Lodge Cast Iron Grill Press, 6.75 Inch x 4.5 Inch. Made in America. Care instructions for cast iron: 1. Wash with warm water. Add a mild soap, if desired. 2. Dry thoroughly with a lint-free cloth or paper towel. 3. Oil the surface of the pan with a very light layer of cooking oil while warm. **Q: Is the underside flat or grooved?**
A: Underside is flat.

**Q: I put the press together and, as many of the low star reviewers, the handle is incredibly loose.  Is that the design?**
A: These are locking nuts and need to be tightened with a par of pliers around them, or wrench, along with a screwdriver (an electric works best).  Also, don't do what I did and oil the press first (made it very challenging to hold everything while tightening, LOL!).

Like all Lodge, it's a basic, easy to use and clean up tool. This is perfect for making consistent burgers. It says it's for outdoors but I use it in my skillet on the stove all the time. It's simple, well made, and does what it's made to do. Kind of like all Lodge cast iron products.

Perfect! My husband loves smash burgers, and I’ve tried pressing the meat with just a spatula, but it never works well. This press works beautifully!

It's good quality and feels heavy enough. However, I was not aware the press had a lip to it and was not flat I brought this for making smash patties and had to return it because it was not flat Watch out if buying for smash burgers
