Review: So much better than the default Modem Router - We moved recently and got a new internet service provider. While the provider and their service was good, the Modem Router that they rented to us was not. We were having constant DNS errors, sometimes the Router would just reset itself, and we would see significantly lower download rates than we were promised. We tried having them replace it with another rented router but the issues continued. Then I decided to do some research. As someone who games and works from home daily I needed a device that could handle high speeds reliably. Dropping my connection in the middle of a meeting or god forbid a match was not acceptable. Then I saw the prices for your average "High End Router" that does not even come with the modem portion. Buying two $200+ devices was just too much, not to mention the worry of them arriving and not working with eachother or one of them being incompatible with my ISP for some reason. With more research I found Netgear and their very reasonable prices and high end devices. And even more awesome they actually offer a gamer level Modem Router combo. The Nighthawk was the same price as a high end router from other companies and it came with the modem built in. I ordered it and set it up. The instructions included with it were fantastic and I had it up and running in no time. A 10 minute call to my ISP later to activate the device (which the instructions also walk you through) and I was up and running and the fastest speeds I've ever had at any of my homes or with any ISP or device. I'm a few weeks in now and have had zero issues, where as before I was having network troubles every couple of days. 5 stars for sure. No complaints at all. The range of the wifi is also very impressive. I'm able to walk a good 200 feet away from my house and still have wifi on my cellphone. And I love the Nighthawk app that you can manage it with from your cellphone. It lets me check the devices on my network with a touch and disconnect any that shouldn't be there. Great stuff netgear, very happy with my purchase. Review: Outstanding Modem Router Combo! - We had a Motorola modem router combo for the past 18 months. It replaced a Netgear unit that after 4 years became inoperable due to a serious home power surge. The Motorola was a recommendation from our internet provider. Had to add 3 wifi extenders to cover our 2300 square foot home. The unit often dropped wifi, could only use WPS after a reset and was very unreliable. Coould not even received a signal on our patio. Installed the Nighthawk 3 weeks ago and it has been operating flawlessly. Removed the 3 wifi extenders and even receive a strong signal outside our home. Installation was very easy using the Netgear app. There are numerous options with the unit that can be changed by the app to customize for individual requirements. I have continuous and strong wifi. We are getting a stronger signal than I have even had with the previously recommended unit. I wish I had my neighbors recommendation 18 months ago as it would have saved us time, money, and lots of agrivation. Thank you Netgear for a great product! I am a Netgear customer for life. ## Features - MAXIMIZE YOUR CABLE INTERNET AND WHOLE-HOME WIFI: A cable modem and WiFi router in one device unlocks the full potential of your home internet with faster downloads, smoother WiFi for gaming and video calls, and reliable coverage in every room. - APPROVED FOR YOUR PROVIDER AND PLAN: Works with Xfinity internet plans up to 800Mbps, Spectrum up to 1Gbps, and Cox up to 1Gbps. There are several different products listed on this one product page. Some are just modems, others are modem/router combos. Unfortunately, all the different products on this page share the same questions and answers which aren't relevant to one another. If the description on the product you have selected says it's a modem/router combo, then it's a modem/router combo. The people saying it's only a router are answering the question based on the product their viewing or have purchased. This is a problem that effects many products throughout the Amazon site. **Q: can a phone line be added to this unit?** A: There isn't a phone jack, per se, but you can use any Ethernet service like Obi200 (provided they don't do any 'Mandatory upgrades' Shenanigans, again) and Google Voice. It works perfectly, just you gotta use ethernet and not phone line/Cable company provided Junk. **Q: Is this router quiet/almost silent?** A: I don't hear it. The fans inside to cool it are quiet. Not like a Comcast DVR that you can hear from another room. You can even disable lights from flashing so it won't stand out. **Q: Does this support MoCA?** A: No, it does not support MoCA. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So much better than the default Modem Router *by A***R on August 13, 2024* We moved recently and got a new internet service provider. This router has the potential to perform well given it's specs but suddenly goes bad and it's happening to a lot of people. Lucky for me mine failed within my return window and I was able to process a return. First few days everything was great. Response time on web pages were very fast, speed tests were great, decent Wifi signal throughout my house, setup went smoothly, and everyone was happy but that only lasted a few days. Suddenly I noticed things running very slow, my Gigabit speeds were reduced down to around 150 to 200 mbps and Wifi constantly disconnecting. Rebooting would fix the issue temporarily bringing me to my normal 900+ mbps but within minutes it would drop back down to 200 mbps again. I made sure the firmware was upgraded to the latest version and even installed the latest hotfix from the Netgear website. Toyed around with changing wireless channels, changing the Wifi security type.. nothing worked. I am on Sparklight Cable service so I'm limited to only a few devices that are "approved" (this was one of them). I ended up returning this router and purchased the Motorola MB8600 which is the next best modem on the approved list but it's a standalone modem so you have to purchase a Wifi router separately. I bought the Asus ROG AX6000 to pair with it. So far the Motorola/Asus pair has been performing excellent but time will tell. I'm very disappointed in Netgear and will never buy another one of their devices again. ## Frequently Bought Together - NETGEAR Nighthawk Modem Router Combo (CAX30S) DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem and WiFi 6 Router - AX2700 6.0 Gbps - Compatible with Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, and More - Gigabit Wireless Internet - NETGEAR Armor - Vabogu Cat 8 Ethernet Cable, 3ft Heavy Duty High Speed Internet Network Cable, 26AWG, 2000Mhz 40Gbps with Gold Plated RJ45 Connectors, Shielded for Indoor & Outdoor Use - NETGEAR WiFi 6 Mesh Range Extender (EAX15) - Add up to 1,500 sq. ft. and 20+ Devices with AX1800 Dual-Band Wireless Signal Booster & Repeater (up to 1.8Gbps Speed), WPA3 Security, Smart Roaming --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/328955581-cax30s](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/328955581-cax30s) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-05*
