I first bought this case because I thought it was for all Kindle Fire HD models not realizing they made 7" one, doh! So needless to say I bought a 7" kindle HDX to go with the water proof case I just accidently bought and now have sitting around with no kindle to fit in it ( I bought the HDX instead of the HD because the case said it was compatible) . I really wish they would have include something on this page to say that it is for the 7" not the 8.9" Kindle Fire HD. I guess that is my goof should have read the dimensions first instead of assuming.Pro's:When I got the case it was very rugged looking and it doubled the thickness of the Kindle Fire 7" HD. Anyone expecting a waterproof case should not be surprised by this! This is NOT A TEMPERORY case as I have seen other negative comments complain about. This case is meant to be put it on and left on. I would say it is similar to a Otter Box case as far as the feel of it.Con's:Unfortunately, I had to return the case because I couldn't turn the Kindle on unless I plugged the charger in it. The buttons are designed to have a little rubber peg that is "suppose to" depress the power button and volume buttons on the back of the Kindle. These did not work at all when I had it all together. I finally got a pen and started jabbing at the buttons to depress them deeper but still no luck. I took the case apart and tested it again to ensure the buttons lined up right and they were but the rubber little peg was not moving deep enough to serve its function. Thus the case is going back sadly.Other thoughts:The company gives you what looks like a guitar pick to pry the case open. First you peel (aka fight) the rubber frame around the hard plastic case and then you pry the plastic case with the pick. This would all be fine if the case did what it says and all work fine (buttons and all).Since I did not actually get to test the case out on how water proof it is I did have my concerns. I would say that by the looks/design it might not be submersible and is at risk for water getting in if at the right angle. For instance if you dropped it in a pool or your bath I could see that water may make its way through the headphones and the charge port since all there was securing those ports is a rubber tab you push in. This design made me squeamish to say the least. - My cell phone case that is waterproof has a peg equipped with a rubber seal that screws in for the headphones and for the charge port it had a little hinged door the snaps closed with a rubber seal also. I guess with this case I expected something a bit more creative. I was not expecting the Atlas Case to have the same designed my Kindle Fire 8.9 HD Otter Box case has; just a rubber tab that you push in. Maybe my Otter Box case is waterproof and I never knew? jk (it isn't waterproof)- So my suggestion is to put the case together and dunk it in a bucket of water first to test the waterproofness of the case before testing it with your prize kindle inside it. I wish Atlas the best and they say it is certified so I will believe them. I really wish the product would have worked out for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Baby powder! *by S***4 on Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2014* I read all the reviews before I bought this case, so I was expecting some issues. I knew it would be hard to install, the power button may or may not work, and there would be watermarks between the case and the screen. But for $20, I decided to give it a shot.I got it today and it took me a while to get the case apart. It wasn't hard to figure out, just needed a couple of my fingernails and a prayer, apparently. That was all well and good, but the watermark was really bad. No matter how many times I took the Kindle out and cleaned everything, the mark came back with a vengeance.A sprinkle of baby powder solved that issue, though, and now I couldn't be happier with the protection my Kindle has. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ There are some inaccurate reviews of this product. *by S***N on Reviewed in the United States on January 13, 2015* I could not wait to review this product. There is no loss to sensitivity. NONE.! Also all the buttons line up and work. Because I believe what I read, I believed the review about not being able to turn on Kindle. I pushed a button and it didn't turn on.They are right, I thought. I kept that crazy button pushing until I realized I was frantically mashing the volume button. There is no weird smudge or cloud. It is a top notch product. Better than Otter box. Do not be scared off by bad reviews. Go to settings and identify the generation of your kindle.
